Ever had a great idea that just needed a little extra design help to become amazing? Well, that’s where Name The Worst creator, Faron Greenfield, found himself with his boffo new card game concept. He had an initial design direction but turned to Z Factory to explore ways to strengthen the branding and make it *fit* better within the field of gaming.
NAME THE WORST is a card game where one person reads from a yellow prompt card (e.g. “Name the worst rock band” or “Name the worst thing to call your boss”) and the rest of the players build their best *worst* answer by combining words from their hand of random red and purple cards. The BEST worst answer wins that round and the game continues.
So from an initial point of reference, I set off developing additional solutions that both built on AND expanded his vision. I wanted to inject some nods to the energy, spoken conversation and controlled chaos of playing the game by seeing what a voice bubble or directional arrows might bring to the most static part of the game – its identity.
In the end, we arrived at the identity you see here. Friendly, colorful and with a playful personality. All reflective of the game and the people you’ll be engaged with.
